Anemia

  • Anemia is a medical condition defined by low levels of hemoglobin. There are many different causes of anemia, but the most common one is iron deficiency. At Low Cost Health Clinics, we are able to test hemoglobin within minutes at the clinic. We are also able to diagnose, assess and monitor anemia with lab testing. The healthcare provider will determine the treatment of anemia depending on the cause. Treatment includes diet modifications, medications and if needed referral to a specialist.
  • Extremely low levels of hemoglobin can be dangerous and life-threatening. If a patient is found to have severe anemia that requires blood transfusions, they will be referred to the emergency department.
