The GI tract is extensive and thus there are many health conditions involving the GI system. Frequent symptoms include nausea, vomiting, heartburn, acid reflux, abdominal pain, diarrhea and/or constipation. In order to diagnose the cause of a patient’s symptoms, the provider will obtain thorough history from the patient. Imaging (X-ray, ultrasound or CT scan) may be ordered. In office, a finger-prick blood test may be done to check for H. Pylori (a common stomach infection), urinalyses (to check for infection or hydration status) etc. Treatment will include medications, injections and supportive care.
